I believe that caring about food is equal parts caring about other people and caring about our planet. Most of the time, I think of food in basic terms, because in its essence it's a basic thing. It does not escape me, however, that food today is becoming more and more complex topic by the day. Sometimes I wish I was gifted with a mathematical mind that would have a better grasp of high-level things, but instead I was gifted with the ability to comprehend the appeal of garlic in melting butter. I'm not a chef, but like to think of myself as a storyteller who can tell a compelling enough tale both with words and food. You'd be the judge as to how well I do.
